Orange alert for rain and calima: Murcia weekend weather forecast November 13-16

Expect grey skies, rainy showers, and coastal gusts

The Region of Murcia is set for a changeable spell of weather from Thursday through Sunday, with the arrival of Storm Claudia influencing conditions. Expect a mix of partly cloudy to overcast skies, occasional showers inland, and gusty breezes along the coast.

Temperatures will hover at around high-teens, with maximum temperatures easing slightly by the weekend thanks to rain and cloud cover. A distinctive feature will be the dust-laden muddy rain (calima) brought in by southerly winds from North Africa, making for hazy conditions in the air.

The day starts with partly cloudy skies, becoming cloudier by afternoon with mid and high-level clouds. Minimum temperatures will rise slightly while maximums remain steady or increase a little. Along the coast from Mazarrón to Cartagena, light, variable winds are expected with moderate northeasterly gusts. An orange warning is in place due to the haze and expected muddy rain.

Cloud cover increases with probable showers inland later in the day. Minimum temperatures will continue rising while maximum temperatures hold steady or dip slightly. Winds will turn southwesterly, moderate along the coast near La Manga del Mar Menor and light to moderate inland. Muddy rain showers will mainly affect northern parts of Murcia and inland areas like Los Alcázares.

Expect intervals of mid and high clouds with a chance of occasional inland showers towards evening. Temperatures remain mostly unchanged, possibly slightly cooler in places. Winds blow southwest, light to moderate generally but strengthening along the coast near San Javier. Haze will persist but rain chances are reduced.

Rain overnight continues into the day with mostly cloudy skies and occasional showers. Temperatures fall as cooler air moves in. Southwest winds pick up, from light to moderate inland and moderate to strong on the coast near Torre Pacheco, bringing a blustery finish to the weekend.

Overall, prepare for a grey, breezy few days with episodes of mud rain and scattered showers mainly inland. Coastal towns will feel stronger gusts and the haze from North Africa will linger. Keep warm and dry as Storm Claudia passes through Murcia.
