Which shops and supermarkets will be open in Murcia this bank holiday Friday June 9?

This Friday June 9, 2023, is the Día de la Región de Murcia, a public holiday in the entire autonomous community of Murcia. As it falls on a Friday this year, many people in Murcia will have a long weekend with three days off.

The next regional public holiday after this will not be until August 15, which is the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin and a national holiday for the whole of Spain.

On these bank holidays, many stores and supermarkets are closed, so most people try to do their shopping for the long weekend beforehand.

Murcia supermarkets that are open this bank holiday Friday

All the shopping centres will remain open this Friday June 9, including the Nueva Condomina, Thader and Atalayas malls in Murcia; the Centro Comercial Parque Almenara in Lorca; Espacio Mediterráneo in Cartagena; and Dos Mares in San Javier.

Also in Cartagena, the usual Friday open-air street markets will be set up as normal.

Spanish megastore El Corte Inglés will be open on Friday, thought with special opening hours: from 11am until 9pm.

Ikea and Media Markt will be open as usual this Friday with their normal opening hours.

As usual on public holidays, Mercadona will not be open on June 9.

Other supermarkets such as Carrefour, Alcampo, Dia, Consum, Lidl and Aldi will be open, though certain individual stores may decide to change their opening times for the day, so it is a good idea to check on the website of each store.
