ARCHIVED - The rain stops but flooding in Los Alcázares and San Javier may get worse before it gets better
Town Halls are warning that floodwater continues to cascade towards the Mar Menor from the Campo de Cartagena
On Tuesday afternoon the sky has brightened and the apocryphal rain of the morning has at last stopped, but the local authorities in San Javier and Los Alcázares are warning that the situation regarding flooding in the towns may yet get worse before it gets better.
As floodwater makes its way from the Campo de Cartagena towards the Mar Menor both of the Town Halls concerned are warning residents not to assume that the worst of the flooding is over. In early December, it is worth remembering a wall of floodwater inundated Los Alcázares after the heaviest rain had ended as the “rambla” flood channels filled and then cascaded towards the Mar Menor.
