ARCHIVED - Sunday 15th March free family activity; survival techniques of plants, San Pedro del Pinatar
This is a free activity, although the commentary is in Spanish. Find out the secrets of the plants and how they survive in a dry climate.
Taking place between 10:00 and 13:30 on Sunday 15th March 2020.
Family activity. Recommended for participants over the age of 5.
Departure from the Las Salinas visitor centre.
The activity covers a distance of 4km and explores the fascinating ways in which plants have evolved to cope with the extreme salt of areas such as the salinas of San Pedro del Pinatar.
Pre-inscription required, call 968 178 139. Booking for this activity opens on the 15th February 2020 and places are limited.
Murcia possesses a number of regional parks, each one offering a unique eco-system with its own characteristics, ranging from the Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar, which includes wild beaches, posidonia meadows and salt flats, through the sandy dunes and volcanic rocks of the Calblanque park, to the cool forests and mountain peaks of the Sierra de Espuña.
Each month the regional parks offer a number of free activities, some of them designed to be enjoyed at your own leisure and others in organised groups on specific dates. Group activities normally require pre-booking as numbers are generally limited: the earlier you book, the better. All activities are in Spanish unless otherwise stated.
Parque Las Salinas, San Pedro del Pinatar
The Salinas natural park revolves around the salt pans from which sea salt is obtained and includes salt pans, marshes, canes, dunes and wild beaches. Popular with bird watchers, it has a number of recommended routes and borders with the Mediterranean, the Mar Menor and its beaches, as well as the San Pedro del Pinatar mud baths, the baños de lodo.
