ARCHIVED - Starfish, octopus and lighthouse triumph in Puerto de Mazarron stairway decoration vote
With the voting period finished and the count completed Mazarrón Councillor Raquel Raja presents the winning designs
At 12:00 noon on Thursday November 24 the deadline for voting on the design options for the 3 stairways that give access to the Paseo Marítimo Don Francisco Martínez Muñoz ended. The Project "Recreations of seafaring traditions in public spaces" was presented by GALPEMUR (Grupo de Acción Local de Pesca y de Acuicultura de la Región de Murcia), a regional action group for the Fisheries and Aquiculture in Murcia, which will be co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (FEMP) at 85% and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia at 15%, has a subsidised investment of 18,017.03 euros.
The Mazarrón Councillor for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Raquel Raja, has announced the 3 options with the most votes. Councillor Raja explained "Option 1 has obtained a total of 109 votes, representing 27.6%, option 4 has obtained 79 votes, 20% and option 2 has obtained 53 votes, representing 13.4% of the total. As a result, these options will be the designs that will be carried out in the coming days, giving the 3 access stairways to our Paseo a renewed and eye-catching aesthetic that I hope will please our neighbours and visitors”.
The vote was a snap poll lasting only 24 hours to give residents of the municipality the chance to be involved with the project which was already funded and 8 proposed designs were put forward for the 3 stairways.
The full voting totals were:
Option 1 (109 votes): 27.6% of the votes
Option 2 (53 votes): 13.4% of the votes
Option 3 (44 votes): 11.1% of the votes
Option 4 (79 votes): 20% of the votes
Option 5 (32 votes): 8.1% of the votes
Option 6 (35 votes): 8.9% of the votes
Option 7 (28 votes): 7.1% of the votes
Option 8 (15 votes): 3.8% of the votes
