ARCHIVED - Shooting stars visible from Murcia: October 8 to 10
The meteor shower is going to especially visible in Murcia this Friday
The arrival of autumn is accompanied by the first of the seasonal meteor showers, or ‘rain of stars’ in Spanish, which will be visible in the Region of Murcia, and other parts of Spain, every night until October 10.
The Draconid meteor shower, sometimes called the Giacobinids, will be most visible on Friday October 8 at nightfall and during the early evening and the best place to watch the display is somewhere far away from brightly lit cities and towns. It is also best to avoid mountainous areas as well, to ensure a clear view of the sky.
These kinds of meteor showers historically bring anywhere from 5 to 600 meteorites per hour and this year’s phenomenon is expected to be relatively moderate, with 20 ‘falling stars’ per hour travelling at 20 km per second.
And this is not the only meteor shower visible from Earth this month, as the Orionids shower will be visible between October 21 and November 7, with 15 to 70 meteors per hour travelling at around 70 km per second.
