Police have arrested a “resident of Alhama de Murcia” for stealing “computers, bicycles, televisions and small appliances” from local properties

Robber in Alhama arrested for more than a dozen home burglaries

The Guardia Civil have released a press release to say that they have arrested a young man in the municipality of Alhama de Murcia for more than a dozen crimes of robbery in Alhama homes.

Recently, the burglar who had been robbing homes at the Condado de Alhama urbanisation for months on end last year was out and stealing from homes on La Isla and the surrounding area once again.

Now, with the arrest of this individual under the auspices of Operation ‘Cuiner’, it is hoped that this crime wave has finally come to an end.

Irene Curtis, Chair of the Security Committee at Condado de Alhama, said, “We are aware that a young person was detained by police earlier today on Condado and hope that this brings to an end the very unusual spate of crime that we have suffered on our resort which is traditionally so tranquil and safe. We would like to thank the Guardia Civil for their actions, and more importantly the security team here on Condado and our neighbours who have pulled together during this difficult time.”

The Guardia Civil reported that they had recovered “practically all” of the stolen effects, such as computers, bicycles, televisions and small appliances.

They specified that their investigation had begun in October of last year when they detected a notable and unusual increase in the number of home robberies in the area, which were committed when the homes were empty, “which led to the assumption that prior surveillance was carried out to ensure access without owners or witnesses”.
