The new bus system came into effect across the Region of Murcia on Friday December 3 and included in the new plan are several remodelled routes in the Cartagena and Mar Menor area which aim to provide better public transport connections for residents all year round.
Movibus is the name of the new system, which is made up of new green buses which have 40 different routes in total, including those connecting the city of Murcia with the surrounding areas (Alcantarilla-Murcia, Beniel-Santomera-Murcia and Molina de Segura-Murcia) and those in the Mar Menor municipalities and Cartagena city.
The 16 bus lines in the Cartagena/Mar Menor area, which includes municipalities such as Los Alcázares, Fuente Álamo and San Pedro del Pinatar, are:
Line 11: San Pedro del Pinatar – San Javier – Torre Pacheco – Cartagena.
Line 4: Cabo de Palos – Veneziola (also known as Bus Manga).
Line 5: Balsicas -Roldán - Torre Pacheco – Cartagena.
Line 6: San Pedro del Pinatar – San Javier – Santiago de la Ribera – Cabo de Palos.
Line 3: La Unión – Cabo de Palos.
Line 2C: Cartagena - La Unión - El Algar.
Line 7: San Pedro del Pinatar – San Javier – Los Alcázares – Cartagena.
Line 8A: Pozo Aledo – San Pedro del Pinatar.
Line 2B: Portmán – La Unión – Cartagena.
Line 2A: La Unión – Cartagena.
Line 8B: San Javier – San Pedro del Pinatar.
Line 9: Roldán – San Pedro del Pinatar.
Line 1C: Los Cánovas – Fuente Álamo – Cartagena.
Line 1A: La Pinilla – Fuente Álamo – Cartagena.
Line 1B: Fuente Álamo – Cartagena.
Line 10: dehesa de Campoamor – Mil Palmeras – San Pedro del Pinatar.

In addition, six new routes are expected to be incorporated next year and there are talks about a bus to connect Cabo de Palos with the Corvera airport and the city of Murcia.
