ARCHIVED - Murcia city increases high tech energy efficient waste collection fleet
The investment centres around 63 vehicles of which 30 per cent are powered by Compressed Natural Gas
Murcia city Mayor, José Antonio Serrano, presented the latest purchase of the municipal cleaning team on Wednesday September 8, comprising 63 new vehicles, joining those already incorporated last June into the municipal street cleaning team.
The new fleet is made up of new state-of-the-art container collection truck units, which are quieter and more environmentally orientated, aiming to reduce pollution and acoustic emissions as well as achieving a lower carbon footprint.
The new fleet is as follows:
- 19 lateral load collectors of 25 m3 of CNG
- 11 mini 5 diesel aluminum collectors
- 6 rear loading collectors 7 m3 diesel
- 6 hybrid inspection vehicles
- 9 side load collectors 13 m3 diesel
- 3 brigade vehicles with diesel crane
- 2 brigade vehicles with crane, on risers and diesel awning
- 2 diesel ecopoint trucks
- 2 diesel hooklifts
- 1 diesel side-loading container washer
- 1 diesel rear-loading container washer
- 1 rear load collector 16 m3 diesel
According to the Mayor, although the new fleet still includes a number of diesel vehicles, all engines are adapted to the EURO VI standard or equivalent in terms of emissions, complying with the European low emissions standard.
The vehicles are all fitted with 360º cameras to avoid accidents and have screens of up to 360º in the cabin to allow viewing at all angles through perimeter cameras to avoid possible accidents, also giving operatives better visibility and manoeuverability.
