ARCHIVED - Los Alcázares inaugurates the Parque del Gonio in Los Narejos
This becomes one of the largest public family areas in the Mar Menor
The town hall of Los Alcázares has officially inaugurated the Parque del Gonio, one of the largest areas for family leisure in the Mar Menor, with more than 36,000 square meters of surface area.
The park has several leisure and sports areas such as a picnic and barbecue area, a children's play area, a calisthenics area, a football pitch and an dog walking area.
The park is located alongside Avenida Radio Baliza Óscar area and Paseo del Gonio in Los Narejos.
Works have included renovation and expansion of the elements of the playground, installation of urban furniture, benches and bins, installation of a calisthenics sports area equipped with bodybuilding equipment such as sets of bars, benches, stairs and rings, etc, a football pitch, dog park, picnic area, equipped with wooden tables and barbecues and signposted parking area.
Councilor for Public Roads and Parks and Gardens, María José Benzal said that the council is also working to install a refreshments kiosk to encourage families to spend a full day in the park.
Mayor Mario Cervera, said: “we continue with our commitment to recover the squares and parks of Los Alcázares. A clear example is the reconversion of this park, which after several years of neglect, has now been turned into a large green area for family leisure, in which residents can now enjoy numerous services.”
