ARCHIVED - Lorca imprescindible en navidad; Lorca Christmas tours
See the essential sights of Lorca during the festive season with this guided tour
From 10th December to 2nd January
This guided tour is in Spanish and visits the main historical monuments of the city, walking through the old quarter and concluding at the municipal nativity scene in the Palacio de Guevara.
The route departs at 18:30 and last approximately one and a half hours.
Dates: Between Tuesday and Friday from the 10th to 27th December (except 24th and 25th) and then resumes on the 2nd and 3rd January 2020.
Cost 7 euros for adults and free of charge for children under the age of 12 if accompanied by a paying adult.
Lorca is a city rich in history, its strategic position above the Guadalentín Valley having attracted human settlers for thousands of years. The municipal archaeological museum shows a wide selection of artifacts dating back into prehistory, tracing the various settlements which left remains in Lorca: The Argarics, Iberians, Moors, Jews and Christians. The imposing Mediaeval castle dominates the skyline, the Jewish synagogue of the Jewish quarter just below it still surviving intact, and the city at its foot filled with ornate Baroque buildings.
On this tour an official regional tour guide shows visitors the most important historical buildings in the old quarter of central Lorca.
The tour is in Spanish, but as with all of these tours, there is plenty to see, leaflets are available in English from the tour office, and once armed with a map and this basic orientation, the city can be revisited at any time and the locations explored at leisure.
The visit leaves from outside the Tourist information point, which is located at the bottom of the Mediaeval wall by the Convento de la Merced at 20.30 in the evening.
There is paid parking here. Ask inside the visitor centre for a ticket giving all day parking for the price of two hours.
Booking is essential as places are limited, so contact the Tourist Office if you'd like to go or book directly USING THE ONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM
