Cartagena’s Espacio Mediterráneo shopping centre is the site of a new IKEA design and planning store in the Region of Murcia, which has been rumoured since the end of 2021 and was finally inaugurated this week.

 

Called the ‘IKEA Cartagena espacio de planificación’ (IKEA Cartagena planning space), the new shop seeks to bring the sleek Scandinavian design that we’ve come to associate with IKEA closer to homeowners across Murcia and help them plan the perfect bespoke interior design for their house.

 

 

“This is not just another shop,” underlined Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, at the inauguration ceremony. “It is the first planning and design space to open in this format in the Region of Murcia.”

 

Also present was Ainhoa Echávarri, IKEA market manager for the Region of Murcia, who said, “This new space allows us to continue deepening our relationship with the city and its people. To be able to contribute our work and expertise to the creation of inspiring spaces and to once again design a place where we can all enjoy decorating and living at home makes us very proud.”

 

Located in a 75m2 premises on the first floor of the Centro Comercial Espacio Mediterráneo, the new IKEA Cartagena is the first shop of its kind in the Region.

 

 

With an initial staff of seven people, customers who come to this new space will be able to design and plan personalised projects for all the rooms in their homes, from kitchens to bathrooms to bedrooms, advised by IKEA experts. They will also receive assistance in making online purchases and contracting collection, transport and assembly services.

 

In this way, thanks to the collection point on Calle Bratislava, just a few minutes from the new shop, customers can purchase and pick up any IKEA product without having to travel to the store in Murcia.

 

The opening hours for the new design store are Monday to Sunday, from 10am to 10pm.
