Competitors are expected to sail across the Mar Menor, Murcia, at speeds of up to 30 knots
The final event of the 2021 GC32 Racing Tour, considered to be the Formula 1 of the sailing world, is going to take place on the Mar Menor next week, when keen sailors, both pros and amateurs will be flying across the lagoon, racing for first place. The event in the Region of Murcia between November 3 and 7 has been organised by the Lo Pagán Nautical Club and the GC32 Racing Tour, in collaboration with several local councils including San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Los Alcázares and Cartagena.Despite the recent episodes of anoxia and contamination in the Mar Menor, the race is still going ahead, and the organisers are even offering visitors the chance to experience the race first-hand with the ‘Invitado A Bordo’ experience, which allows guests to sail along with the professionals, as long as the weather conditions are suitable. To book one of these experiences, which cost 25 euros per adult and 10 euros for under 13s, email sarenas@innoventures.es or call 687 285 466.Sailing enthusiasts can also visit the Lo Pagán Nautical Club and take a look at the catamarans when they aren’t in use.Image: Archive
