Guided tours and walks available now in the Murcia Region (cultural and active)
There are hundreds of free and paid routes on offer throughout the year for those who enjoy exploring
There are literally dozens of options on offer every month for those interested in exploring the 45 municipalities which make up the Region of Murcia.
The regional tourist offices offer a programme of free guided visits to their municipalities, which explore the historical, cultural and natural attractions of their individual area, most of which are free. The majority of these tours are in Spanish, but they are generally highly visual, particularly those which explore areas of natural beauty or involve an activity. Some tours are now being offered in English and it will clearly indicate in the title of the activity should this be the case.
Booking for these tours can be undertaken using an online booking system provided by the tourist board or by calling the tourist office in question directly. Details of the specific office are given on each article. Please bear in mind that once these trips are full they disappear from the list on the booking system. In this case, call the tourist office in question as sometimes there is a waiting list for a particular visit and if you ask to be added to the list the tourist office may contact you nearer the time and invite you to join the tour if they have received a cancellation.
There are other events listed below which are run by different bodies, such as the department of the environment, various charities, town halls, sporting associations and clubs, as well as businesses offering commercial paid tours. Full booking details for each activity are given on the articles. In some cases it is necessary to first pay the cost of participation into a bank account, clearly stating your name when you do so. After this, email the address given to confirm your registration. This is a standard method of booking here, and once it has been undertaken once is fairly straightforward.
Prior booking is essential for all of these activities, and it is highly advisable to book as far in advance as possible as some tours are particularly popular. If you book, please make sure you attend as it's soul destroying for the organisers when there is a waiting list for a tour and half of those who have booked don´t bother turning up or advising in advance that they will not be able to attend.
Enjoy; participating in these guided tours is a fun way of exploring the region, meeting like-minded people and discovering the immense wealth of activities and areas which can be enjoyed throughout the 11,313 square kilometres of the region.
