This is the first concerts to be given in Spain by one of the premier jazz formations of Italy, Musica Nuda, a duo consisting of vocalist Petra Magoni and double bassist Ferruccio Spinetti, who has worked with great musicians such as Mal Waldron, Arto Lindsay and Paolo Fresu. They adapt rock, pop and classical tunes to the jazz idiom, and on this occasion are collaborating for the first time with Spanish pianist Chano Domínguez in a venture supported by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura.
JOE LOUIS WALKER
It is all of 8 years since the last visit of Jose Louis Walker to the San Javier Jazz Festival, but the “heart of the blues” returns in 2023 as "one of the most recognizable icons of modern blues” (NPR Music). Among the highlights of his career are the album “Blues Comin’ On”, in conjunction with artists such as Keb’ Mo’, Eric Gales and Albert Lee, and his offering from 2014, “Hornet’s Nest”, which the Chicago Times described as “living proof of the limitless potential of the blues”.
Numbers from both of these albums and his latest disc “Weight of the World” are on the schedule for his return to San Javier on July 7.
The fifth concert of the 2023 San Javier Jazz Festival begins at 22.00 in the open-air Auditorio Municipal in Parque Almansa with tickets priced at 25 euros. Season tickets are also available: for bookings and further information click here.
