ARCHIVED - Fire in the sierra de La Carrasquilla in Lorca covered 44 hectares
Firemen worked through the night to extinguish the fire
Firefighters from the Regional Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium (CEIS) worked through the night on Monday to extinguish a forest fire in the La Carrasquilla mountain range, in Lorca.
According to the 112 Emergency Services, the flames, which were at the base of the mountain range and advanced in a front of 300 meters, affected an area of 44 hectares of scrub and scrubland. The 112 Emergency Coordination Center of the Region received numerous calls warning of the fire from 9:15 p.m.
16 firefighters from the CEIS of the Region attended the call with eight firefighting vehicles, Civil Protection personnel from the Municipal Emergency Service of Lorca, eight environmental agents and 42 brigades with seven firefighting vehicles.
Iberdrola also reported that there was a high voltage line in the area affected by the fire.
