FAST launch a new initiative to help first responders and emergency services which could save your life
FAST’s first responders have initiate their ‘Red Folder Project’, which could save time and possibly lives in cases of medical emergency call-outs

Camposol’s FAST organisation, which provides the urbanisation with a medical emergency first responder service funded mainly by donations and charity events and is free to users, are launching their ‘Red Folder Project’, an initiative aimed at saving valuable time by providing FAST responders and 112 emergency services with important personal information and allowing treatment to commence earlier.
Suzanne Reid, the President of FAST, explained, “Some time ago our responders identified an issue when attending call outs, in particular people living alone. Whilst the community spirit in Camposol is so marvellous that neighbours often look out for each other, calling us or 112 when the need arises, sometimes those neighbours are not aware of all the information required to inform the emergency services if the person needs assistance or indeed needs to be taken into hospital. This is particularly noticeable when the patient is either too ill (or perhaps unconscious) or lacks sufficient mental capacity at the time.”
FAST are proud to announce that this scheme, the RED FOLDER project, will commence from Friday June 27. Free red folders will be available for collection from the FAST Desk outside Alley Palais between 10.30am and 12.30pm. On collection, you will be given an information sheet containing a list of questions developed by FAST in co-ordination with the local professional bodies to be completed by you and to be placed in the red folder (along with any current prescription list or recent hospital discharge notes).
This folder should be kept in a place chosen by you in your home. Alongside this folder you will receive a sticker which is to be placed inside the house either on the inside of the front door or on the fridge which bears logos recognisable by our emergency services and will identify the location of your red folder.
The completed information sheet should be placed in the red folder together with any current medical prescription or recent hospital discharge notes and any other important papers. IMPORTANT Passports, money, keys, cards, ID cards etc. should NOT be placed in the folder.
This simple scheme should ensure that any attending emergency services will be able to locate all pertinent information should you not be in a position to give it and will keep all that important information in one place.
The President of FAST added, “The red folder project, which has been actively discussed with Protección Civil and Mazarrón Town Hall as well as within FAST, seeks to ensure correct and safe treatment of anyone, particularly (but not limited to) those vulnerable people living alone. Our contention at FAST is that everyone is vulnerable when they are ill or injured and just because they do not live alone doesn’t mean that they will not have an accident when their partner or friend is not present.”
FAST have an initial stock of the red folders, questionnaires and stickers available at the FAST desk from Friday June 27. In addition, Mazarrón Councillor for Camposol, Carmen Navarro, has committed to supply further stocks and it is anticipated that when further supplies are available more collection points in various other positions will be set up throughout Camposol. Further details of these locations will follow in the next few weeks.
This is not just a British, English-language service; assistance can be offered in other languages to complete the form for anyone attending the FAST desk. Please come along and collect your folder. It could save a lot more than time.
The project will initially be rolled out in Camposol, with the Town Hall looking to roll out across the municipality if it is successful.
