ARCHIVED - Corvera airport summer bus service starts today with a new timetable
The times for the bus line, which now connects Murcia city and Cartagena with Corvera airport, have changed from what was first announced
The long-awaited bus service between Cartagena, Murcia and Corvera airport finally starts today, Wednesday June 15, coinciding with the start of the summer season.
There will be twelve daily buses, three in each direction to each city, and the service will be in place until September 15. The final timetables for these buses have been changed slightly from the times that were originally planned to try and better coordinate with flight arrival and departure times at the airport.
The late buses have all been brought forward slightly, by between 5 minutes and 1 hour, while the departure times of some of the earlier buses have been pushed back.
The new timetables for the airport buses will be as follows:
- Murcia – Corvera: 8.30am; 12.30pm; 7pm
- Corvera – Murcia: 11.25am; 2.55pm; 9.25pm
- Cartagena – Corvera: 10.30am; 2pm; 9.25pm
- Corvera – Cartagena: 9.10am; 1.10pm; 7.40pm
However, this still means that the first buses leaving from Cartagena will continue to arrive too late for those who want to take the early flights leaving from Corvera, though by changing the 1pm bus from Cartagena to 2pm, the wait to catch the 5.10pm easyJet flight to London Gatwick has been shortened.
The other problem that remains is for travelling from Cartagena on the last bus of the day, which will still arrive long after the final flights – the 9.30pm Ryanair service to Dublin and the 9.40pm easyJet flight to Gatwick – have departed.

The Director General for Mobility and Coastal Areas, Marina Munuera, said that the bus service aims to “encourage sustainable mobility and tourist activity during the summer, now that the air mobility restrictions caused by the pandemic are behind us and air traffic is recovering”.
“The increase in passenger arrivals, which recovered 88% of flights in May and more than 76% of passengers compared to 2019, are data that sufficiently justify the existence of a collective transport of which we will monitor its use on a weekly basis, and which will be maintained until September 15,” continued Munuera.
By monitoring how many passengers use the bus service, the authorities aim to assess whether it is worth reinstating the bus lines to Corvera from Mazarrón and Águilas, and the Mar Menor and La Manga.
Information on the bus service will be available both at the airport facilities and on the Interbus company website, where passengers can also purchase tickets and follow where the buses are in real time.
