ARCHIVED - Complaints as major roadworks begin on La Manga causing tailbacks
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Residents yet again question the logic of undertaking major roadworks in the busiest weeks of the year
With temperaturas soaring into the 30s, and the narrow la Manga strip packed with holidaymakers, it would be logical to assume that this is absolutely the worst time of the year to start resurfacing the ONLY main road in and out of La Manga del Mar Menor.
But for the second consecutive July, the machinery is back in action and incredulous residents are once again questioning the logic of undertaking major works during the months in which the maximum possible inconvenience to holidaymakers and residents can be caused.
This year the works are in the zona del Zoco, and are reportedly causing major tailbacks between km 4.5 and 6, much to the disgust of local residents.
