Bodies found in Camposol house believed to be those of missing foreigners
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the disappearance and deaths of the two Ecuadorian men who went missing four months ago

The Guardia Civil has discovered two dead bodies in a house in Sector D of the Camposol urbanisation, where missing friends José Patricio Chango Heredia, 43, and Edwin Guillermo Cambal Chicaiza, 32, were last known to reside.
The remains, which were found in an advanced state of decomposition and hidden in a concealed space within the house, are believed to be those of the two Ecuadorian men who disappeared four and a half months ago. Both vanished on the same day in April, after finishing their working day.
One man has been arrested for his alleged connection to the disappearance and deaths. According to investigators, he had no family or friendly relationship with the two victims. The Guardia Civil has not ruled out further arrests as the investigation continues.
The families of José Patricio and Edwin Guillermo, both in Spain and in Ecuador, have already been informed of the discovery. Eloy Ferrández, the solicitor representing the families, remains in contact with the Civil Guard to keep them updated on developments.
An autopsy will determine firstly whether the bodies are indeed those of the two friends, as the evidence strongly suggests, and secondly the cause of death. Due to the state of decomposition, it is not possible to identify any injuries by sight alone. Any wounds caused by weapons, such as knives or firearms, will be determined during examination at the Institute of Legal Medicine.
The autopsy will also seek to establish the time of death, although experts have already confirmed that both men died months ago.
Specialists from the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil were deployed from Madrid to assist in the operation. On Friday August 29, forensic experts spent several hours at the house collecting samples that will be analysed in an attempt to clarify what happened.
The two men had been sharing a rented house in Camposol while working to send money back to their families in Ecuador. Following their disappearance, police carried out an extensive search of the Mazarrón area, including wells, security cameras and surrounding countryside. Drones, dogs and even a helicopter were used, but the search initially yielded no results.
Investigations eventually led the police to focus more heavily on the specific house where the remains were later discovered. Acting on a court order, they entered the property and uncovered the bodies hidden inside.
The Guardia Civil continues to investigate the case in an effort to determine exactly what happened to José Patricio and Edwin Guillermo, and to bring answers to their grieving families.
