Alicante airport launches new direct flights to Morocco with Royal Air Maroc
Alicante's North African connections are growing, with Casablanca joining an already solid line-up of routes to Algeria and Tangier
Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has added a new direct connection to its international line-up, with Royal Air Maroc launching flights between Alicante and Casablanca from the start of the summer season this week.
The route, which reinstates a connection that previously operated at the airport, will run three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. As well as giving travellers a straightforward link to Morocco, the Casablanca connection opens up Royal Air Maroc's wider international network, including destinations across Africa, the Americas and the Middle East, all accessible via the airline's Casablanca hub.
Royal Air Maroc has been operating in the Spanish market for more than 50 years and already flies to nine Spanish airports, connecting five Moroccan cities with numerous destinations across the country via more than 80 weekly flights.
The Alicante route forms part of a broader expansion strategy that the airline is pushing ahead with, partly in anticipation of co-hosting the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
The new service also strengthens Alicante airport's growing presence in the North African market. The airport already offers Vueling flights to the Moroccan city of Tangier and the Algerian city of Constantine, as well as up to seven weekly flights to Oran and nine to Algiers.
