The number of new coronavirus positives detected by the regional health services of Spain continues to increase.
The daily report published by the Spanish Ministry of Health on Friday afternoon includes 1,895 new Covid infections diagnosed within the last 24 hours, the highest daily total since Spain left the state of emergency on June 21st. Click for detailed data
This total does not include one of the most-affected Regions, that of Aragon, due to a technical hitch. Aragón detected 662 new cases on Thursday, of which 557 are concentrated in the province of Zaragoza, so it is very likely that the figure is in fact, higher.
Madrid has today reported further new outbreaks and 567 cases, the Basque Country 403 with important new outbreaks in Andalusia and the Valencian Region.(see below for list showing total cases per date by municipality and in the third column the total reported in the last 24 hours.)
The total number of cases now showing is 314,362.
Last Friday the total was 288,522, so in one week there have been 25,840 new cases added into the count.
Go back one further week when the total was 272,421 and this total becomes 41,941for two weeks, and going back further a clear path of acceleration can be seen, as reflected in the graph below.
In the last 24 hours the number of cases shown in the total figures has increased by 4,507 cases, more than double the quantity officially diagnosed in the last 24 hours. This is explained by the process of checking cases reported by the 17 health services of the regions and adding in, for example, the missing figures from Aragon today, when they have been added to the system. These are not reported separately, simply added to the totals of the next report.
A large part of the cases are concentrated into just three autonomous communities: Aragon, Catalonia and Madrid.
This Friday 16 deaths have been reported within the last 7 days, bringing the total up to 28,503.
