ARCHIVED - 16 covid deaths and hospital pressure increases; Monday 25th Murcia Region
New cases were lower with just 640 new positives, but that is normal for a Monday as the figures relate to the previous day

The number of new cases in the Murcia Region diagnosed on Sunday and reported on Monday was down to 640, which is still a high figure but is much lower than numbers reported earlier in this and the previous week, and also registered just 12.3% positivity amongst the cases tested, so is a positive indicator that the rate of contagions is slowing down in the region.
However, the hospitalisations and deaths relating to the sudden surge in new cases after the festive season is still feeding through, the result being that 16 people died from coronavirus in the region on Sunday and 5 further admissions took the number of patients requiring hospital care up to another record high.
The number of active cases and patients in home isolation has come down, as the number of new diagnoses has been lower than the total of recoveries.
Data at a glance as reported on Monday:
New positive cases reported in the last 24 hours: 640
Confirmed cases since the beginning of the outbreak; 89,959
Total number of active cases: 16,474
Patients in home isolation with mild symptoms: 15,401
Total number of hospitalisations: 1073 (+5)
Total number in ICU intensive care units : 158 (+3)
Total cured: 72,548
Total deaths: 937
Testing: total of 758,773 PCR and antigen tests and 89,187 serological tests to date
